He knows all about art, but he doesn’t know what he likes.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

This type of soul, this type of art takes a while to cook. It’s like when my wife cooks for me and I always ask for greens. She never wants to cook the greens because they take three hours to cook.

Have no fear of perfection. You’ll never reach it.

We’ll buy some drugs and watch a band and jump in a river holding hands.

From my point of view, which is that of a storyteller, I see your life as already artful, waiting, just waiting and ready for you to make it art.

Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide.

Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable.

The arts are not just a nice thing to have or to do if there is free time or if one can afford it. Rather, paintings and poetry, music and fashion, design and dialogue, they all define who we are as a people and provide an account of our history for the next generation.

Can anybody be given creativity? No. Only equipment to develop it if it’s in them in the first place.

There is nothing new… everything has roots in the past.

Truth exists in art.

Surrealism had a great effect on me because then I realised that the imagery in my mind wasn’t insanity. Surrealism to me is reality.

If you believe in your art and you love what you do, that energy will go out and people will respond.

A museum has to renew its collection to be alive, but that does not mean we give on important old works.
