Nothing’s funnier to me than laughing at myself.

How often, for example, have you said or heard someone else say, “All I really want in this life is to be happy”? It sounds like a commonsense answer, but as a life goal, it is destined for failure. My dog, Barkley, wants to be happy. Does that mean that the two of you want the same things? I don’t think so. I’ll bet everything I own that you and Barkley define happiness very differently. So unless you’re willing to settle for someone scratching your belly and letting you sleep under the coffee table, you might want to be a little more precise about what you as a unique individual really want.

Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?

There is no reality, only perception.

You know, what we do know is that there is a high frequency of violence in the home of those who bully.

Life is not a success-only journey. You are going to get beat up along the way. And you’ve got to have the strength of character to get up and get back in the game.

You’ve got to teach youngsters the difference between right and wrong, but you shouldn’t try to poke it down their throats. Let them ask the questions and then give them the answers.

The finest clothing made is a person’s own skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.

When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, you think it’s only a minute. But when you sit on a hot stove for a minute, you think it’s two hours. That’s relativity.

I choose you, again and again at the start and finish of every single day, no matter the season, no matter the age. Insane people are always sure that they are fine. It is only the sane people who are willing to admit that they are crazy.

Know people for who they are rather than for what they are.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I thought about writing a poem explaining how when you are lost at sea, even if you are rescued and survive, you never really come back. Then I realized everyone that’s ever been in love would already understand.

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things losers don’t want to do.

What gives life its value you can find – and lose. But never posess. This holds good above all for “the Truth about Life.

If you don’t know what it is you want – and I mean specifically – then you won’t even know when you have it.

It’s terribly unfair that we should have to suffer like this.
